@praveenswami Here are my two bits on Russian failure to rein in Pakistan.
India didn't step up the heat on Pakistan for Russia & Russia feared China & USA ganging up to save Pakistan incase, Russia attacked Pakistan.
Also, Russia didn't have enough faith in India standing up for Russia.
So, India has letdown Russia.👎
Similarly, USA feared China & Russia ganging up to save Pakistan incase, USA attacked Pakistan.
Further, India was adamant, not to help USA in Afghanistan beyond humanitarian aid & infrastructure to the civilians of Afghanistan.
So, USA too lost badly in Afghanistan because of unwilling India.👎
Had USA been too mindful & concerned about the value of it's diplomatic relations with Pakistan, it wouldn't have dumped Pakistan as it has, after withdrawing from Afghanistan.
Now, the relationship between Pakistan & USA is merely symbolic.
Unfortunately, everyone hesitates to call a spade a spade.
Instead, all the well-known commentators on geopolitics keep beating around the bush and pretend to offer better clarity than their peers.
Actually, it's verymuch necessary for the analysts to manage expectations & remain in business.
As things stand, all non aligned & semi aligned countries like India are sitting on the fence & avoiding taking sides, too firmly.
Indeed, American weapon systems & technology are a generation ahead of Russian technology however, Russia fills the gap making their weapon systems cheaper.
Also, it's better to buy on weapon systems of different countries in the interest of competition & to avoid any country or one country/side's vendors earn some leverage in geopolitics through supply of spares, unknown & unknowable backdoors.
Hence, Russia is extremely important.
Be that as it may, it's clear beyond doubt, technological superiority gives one a comfortable edge & mediocre technology ensures a miserable failure.
Infact, Russian technology is quite good.
However, it fails to outmatch Ukraine on account of the piecemeal assistance from NATO.
