Bearding the dragon!

Standing up to a super power.

There ain't great dissemination of information.

Also, many including @rwac48 advocated cutting losses

Technological assymetry is a reality

@rwac48 once made a case for upping the ante through limited war. He didn't find many takers.

Even, @rwac48 has been far from consistent.

Brahma Chellaney on twitter here.

  1. “A Chinese analyst in 2020 aptly summed up CCP strategy: "China sees the unsettled border as leverage to bog down India and undermine its global potential." It is "stringing India along" as it seeks "to advance its position" along LAC and "force India to accept the fait accompli"".

  2. “This strategy was long apparent. Yet India’s foreign-policy establishment played into China's hands by agreeing to sideline the border dispute and focus on deepening bilateral relations through largely one-sided trade and political concessions. Now it laments China's "betrayal"".

Logically, an unintented fallout of escalation could be us becoming America's spear edge against China.

Unfortunately, that's one trap we must avoid as we would be playing into the hands of the military-industrial complex in America that always relished such simmering conflicts.

Indeed, it's our longstanding complacence, willingness to overlook low intensity conflict, neglect of our economy, capability building, modernization, propensity to import military hardware, .. that have painted us in a corner.

Fortunately, we still've some aces up our sleeve.🤣

Proposed China mantra.

1 disincentivise territorial ambitions by raising cost sooner than later

2 lean on a mixed bag of options

3 react promptly & aggressively

4 Aggressive defence & deterrence need to be cornerstone of our C~ policy

5 Demonstrate confidence to push the envelope.

Expectation future course of events.

1. We would first bridge the technological assymetry one way or another and if possible, acquire an edge over China in select areas.

2. We would rein in Pakistan directly or indirectly through our allies.

3. Thereafter, we have a decent fighting chance with China.
